The anti-AI people are angry again
I’m seeing a hilarious new time-wasting trend emerging: software engineers are making "naughty lists" of software "tainted" by AI/LLM involvement, seemingly to shame authors who use AI-assisted tools. They are setting up git repos to crowdsource PRs to help grow these lists of shame. They follow on with "alternative" software that supposedly has no AI involvement in their creation.
But I wonder: what CPUs do these people plan to switch to?
Intel and AMD use LLMs and lots of Reinforcement Learning to design and verify the silicon on which our software runs. Modern chip complexity reached a point years ago where humans could no longer optimize the layouts of billions of transistors without heavy AI assistance. So, if you're boycotting AI-assisted code, you're about 20 billion transistors too late!
There is no "opting out" at the hardware level.
